Question

Start button not showing on typeform on instagram

I have a link to a typeform on my instagram, but when the user clicks ‘take the quiz’ and the page loads, the Start button is not on the page.

The image showing the button is how it looks on a mobile brower. And the image without the Start button is how it looks when a user clicks on the link from my instagram conversation.

You can replicate what I am doing by going to this post: https://www.instagram.com/p/DQHN-pNiBZL/?igsh=MXMxeWw2ZmF5bTh0bg==

Commenting Brand and you will get a dm to take the quiz.

This was the response I got, but havent heard any more since… I’ve just chased up on it:

“When using iPhone, the button is there, but is not showing due to the 'big' menu strip at the bottom. I already escalated to our engineers for them to advise if this is something we can adjust on our side, or if is it related to Instagram’s behavior.

As soon as I have more information, I'll let you know!

While we look into this, kindly update your iOS and Instagram to avoid any compatibility problems.”

the update: We do not have an update to share about the resolution for this issue at this time. For a bit more context about the issue,

The issue is specific to forms opened through the in-app browser within Meta's apps. This includes Instagram and WhatsApp. We have found that this only affects some versions of iPhones, and not all devices are affected. There appears to be some sort of change that happened in a recent update with the apps that Meta owns, and our team is seeing if there is anything that we can do to alleviate this. Note that this does not affect normal browsers, like Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc., it only affects these in-app browsers.

As soon as we have an update to share, we will let you know on this thread.

they said the same thing to me.

Funny thing is most of their traffic is from in-app browsers on mobile…. rest in peace typeform? I know businesses are losing millions by the day across industries due to this issue

Thanks so much for keeping the community updated @lizrochester, it seems like we need Meta to assist with this one so hopefully we can get it resolved asap!

Update and resolution:

Ryan here with Typeform’s technical support, thank you for your patience as our engineers investigated the issue where the form’s start button could fall behind the navigation bar in Meta’s in-app browsers, primarily Instagram and WhatsApp.

We were made aware of the issue shortly after Meta made a recent update to their in-app browsers.

Our engineers found that the bug was introduced by Meta’s updates, and quickly reached out to their team to address the issue. This week, Meta rolled out an update (Instagram v405.1.0) for “bug fixes and performance improvements”. After updating the apps, we no longer experience the issue on devices where we previously could replicate it.

Meta’s latest updates fix the in-app browser issue, and you should receive fewer reports of this as users’ apps get updated.

We appreciate your patience with it, and hope this provides some clarity as to what caused the issue.
