Still struggling with hidden fields

Forum|alt.badge.img+1

I have included hidden fields to my survey. It shows @firstname on my survey question, but when my guinea pig testers have run through it, it either shows blank (it does for me) or it shows xxxxx

Please can someone tell me how to work this bloody software. This damned survey was supposed to be up on Friday. I have done what everyone has advised...

@Sarah-Jane - looks ok so far! can you share the method of how you are collecting the firstname and surname to pass INTO the form as hidden fields? if they are attached to the URL, please post a copy of the url string so that we can examine.. it should be something similar to this:

https://yourform.typeform.com/to/sjvsXIYH#email=myname@email.com&firstname=John&lastname=Desborough

if you are NOT passing in the values to go along with the name of the hidden fields then you won’t have any data to display in the recall

@Sarah-Jane - can you please post a screenshot of the actual email link you are using for the people to arrive at your survey?

How are you ‘pre-populating’ the value portion of the url string that would contain the hidden field?

Can you please post a screenshot of your hidden fields variables list? (from the Advnaced Logic tab) - you will have needed to create the ‘receiving’ variable called firstname in the hidden fields list, for example.

thanks - with those we should better be able to help you out.

People will predominantly come via the district council’s website. I cannot give you the URL for this page yet as the web firm hosting it on behalf of the district council has not replied to any requests either.

So far, it exists as a web link being circulated to my willing guinea pigs. If you would like to have a look at this, I am happy to share it as »

If I can prove the hidden fields work (and will capture the utm_source reliably), I’ll ditch one of the questions.

I have gone beyond stressed-hissy-fit to full-blown nervous breakdown at this end!  :joy:

that shows how you are using the hidden field/variable on the form.. but how are you populating that field before you get to this page/question?

collecting it via this form. i know it can be done, because I tried it out on one of the sample forms before signing up.

@Sarah-Jane - i sent you a DM just a minute ago.

If you are collecting it via the form, you are not using a hidden field - and it won’t be available to use in the form until you actually ask the question to get the info.

Hi @Sarah-Jane - were you able to get your hidden fields working with @john.desborough ? :smiley: If you’ve got it working, we’d love to see the solution in case anyone else has the same issue!
