Improving drop-off rate

I have made a typeform for people to buy tickets to an event and I see a massive drop-off rate on the first question of about 60%, in the first question I am just asking for the person to enter their name. Anyone have any idea or suggestions of what could be going on or if there is a way to improve this with typeform?

danceblender.com its the form to buy a pass/ticket.
the volunteering form which has several more questions has a much lower drop-off rate overall.

@topalk Thank you! Just a few suggestions:

  • It might be worth trying to embed the form as a popup on the website rather than have it redirect to a new tab so the respondent stays on your website.
  • On the welcome screen, it would be cute to see an image of the festival or video to get people excited about it!
  • If you have the time to change the look of the form to be similar to your website in terms of color, font, etc, I think this will help your potential festival goers feel like the form is part of your website rather than Typeform.

Those are just my initial thoughts, but tagging @Grace @john.desborough @Darnell to see if they have any opinions (which are usually better than mine!).

@topalk @Liz - one thing that there are several Typeform youtube videos discussing structure of quizzes call out - that you need to be ‘entitled’ to get the personal data… while getting email address up front may work on some of the types of forms/quizzes, explaining what they are going to get or asking them a really simple question up front to get them past the first question (“have you ever attended one of our events before?” for example) might ‘grease the wheels’ to get them to be willing to give email on the next step…

while there is no native A/B testing method in native Typeform, you could test and tweak various versions of the form (embedded or otherwise) to see where, when and why drop off occurs.. you may need to adjust the sequence of questions several times to get to a sweet spot..

just my tuppence

Yeah, I think @Liz and @john.desborough covered things very well. It’s been a while since I used a TF in a similar context, but when I do, I deploy a lot of what Liz and John said.

A deeper sense of cohesion, familiarity, and targeting should (in theory) help decrease those drop-off rates.

Hi everyone,  if I'm wrong to share with you my point/suggestion then forgive me. To improve drop-off rates, I can give can give consider implementing.1) Streamline the user experience: Ensure that your website or app is user-friendly,easy to navigate and intuitive. Simply the path for users to achieve their desired action, whether it's making a purchase, subscribing to a service or completing a form 2) Optimize loading speed: Slow-loading website or app can frustrate users and lead to drop-offs. Reducing page load times by minimizing file sizes and utilizing caching techniques.

@Liz@Darnell@john.desborough
I have made the edits you guys have suggested for the buy pass buttons on the website, could you take a quick look to see if I did it as you meant?
And thanks a lot!

I have an issue with one button though, how do I have the header button activate the pop up?

Hi @topalk It looks like you have the button popping up now! The form looks so good - I love the added logo and text! Let us know how this goes over the next few days.

Hello @Liz   @john.desborough  @Darnell  @Ibrahim masudi    Thank you again for all your help!

I have an update, the data that I was getting was not correct, I found out that every time I click the form button while in the squarespace editor, even though the typeform doesn’t load correctly in the editor, it still gets counted as a view and exit from typeform messing up the typeform insight data.

I am now careful to not click on the form button unless I absolutely have to to check for functionality and the data going forward will be accurate.
