Feature Suggestion: Duplicate form improvement (Doesn't duplicate everything)

We’ve have noticed that Duplicate form button doesn’t fully duplicate everything.

  • Doesn't duplicate messages, e.g. we have translated, updated them to our own needs, but on duplicate they reset to default, need extra time to add it.
  • Doesnt duplicate notification settings 
  • Doesnt duplicate connected integrations, e.g. upload to google drive etc…


    Probably doesnt do more, is that what typeform planned or this is something stil needs to be improved?

This is expected behavior of the duplication feature, and while we don’t have any improvements planned, I can share this feedback with our product team!

@ValdemarQ - I agree that there are some times when i want to have “all” the bits duplicated but I think there are some very valid reasons to NOT have everything duplicated.. 

I have created a bunch of templates that I provide to clients to use in their accounts. If EVERYTHNG was duplicated I would have to go in and make all the changes for the ‘next user’ or run the risk of: 

  • having client B connect to client A’s google sheet (or other similar integration) or google drive
  • apply tags from Client A to client B’s data flows into the crm
  • send notifications from Client B to Client A addresses - both internal and external

Those are a few of the things I would not want to have happen in that scenario. If it was a set of internal forms, i can see utility of having all same details carry over - except for a few integration concerns maybe. 

I know it’s a pain and it makes for some additional work, but I simply factor in the time/cost of doing that into any project estimates (internal or external) and have made checklists for me to use to go through and make sure that I have covered off all the bits that need to be changed.

I’ve also had to make one item on the checklist  that is in bold and highlighted for Google Sheets that support a Typeform (or several) if the data has to be pulled from several Sheets into one for a consolidated reporting process. Because many of the solutions I have deployed need to have data pulled from separate Google Sheets, the url of the respective sheet needs to be replaced in the ‘reporting’ tab in order to do the lookup in the other sheet(s) - I don’t want them looking up the data in the google sheet in my sandbox lol. 

 

i’m trying to find work arounds myself to deal with the way the other voices in my head think about the ‘duplicate’ feature and what’s in and what’s out. hopefully Typeform will come up with some stuff for us that will make this whole discussion moot in the future.
