Hi! Is there any way to create Picture Choice Questions (multiple choice question with images) with VideoAsk API?

Hi @klei, great question!

Unfortunately, at this point in time, VideoAsk does not support picture answer choices (via API or otherwise).

That being said, you could always use the Redirect URL feature in VideoAsk to move respondents from a videoask to a typeform, where they can choose a photo as their answer.

The responses will be stored in separate inboxes/platforms, but this would be one way to achieve your goal!

Hi @andrew_videoask

Do you know if it's something that will be available soon? Since we are using the API, the option you mentioned is not feasible for us at the moment because it would require integrating the Typeform API and restructuring our data model (as the user would be leaving the flow). Can you think of any other way we could solve it?

Hey @klei it’s not currently on the roadmap for VideoAsk to have picture choices but we can definitely add it to our feature request board to be considered as we continue to develop 🤞

Hi @andrew_videoask @Grace , is the redirect URL feature available through VA API? Maybe I can redirect it to a Typeform or a self made picture multiple choice type of question, is this possible? Is the only thing that I’m missing while working with VA.

Hey @klei you can use the API to redirect to a URL, sounds like it could be a good solution, let us know how it goes!

Can the URL be on any step of the survey (for example, question 3 of 5) or it must be the last question? Because if it was on the middle of the survey, how do we redirect the user so he can continue responding it (responding the question 4, following the example) after he responds the image multiple choice question? @Grace

Hi @klei if it needs to be in the middle of the set of questions, you would need to split the flow of questions and create two separate videoasks and then redirect from the first videoask to the typeform, then redirect from the typeform to the second videoask.

We have a Help Center article here about connecting 2 typeforms to a videoask which works the same the other way round if that helps!

Okay thanks. Following the example of the article, if user is on the VideoAsk but he wants to come back to change his first question (Typeform A), can he do it?

Also, is there anything of this that we can’t achieve using the VideoAsk API?

Lastly and just for curiosity, what is the reason that we can’t redirect users again to Typeform A instead of Typeform B?

@klei once they’ve answered the typeform and been redirected to a new videoask they won’t be able to go back and change an answer. You could redirect back to typeform A but it’s not possible to pick a point in the typeform to redirect to - so you can’t redirect to a specific step so it’s better to split the typeform/videoask so that you redirect to the correct part of the flow.

Hopefully that makes sense! And yes should be possible using the API 😊
