I am building a website on Webflow that utilises Memberstack. They have a walkthrough video providing guidance on using a widget that pulls contact information using Memberstack’s 2.0 API. The guidance on the following link indicates how to do it with a widget, but I was wondering if this could be adapted to an embed, if so could someone from your team possibly advise?
This is cool, I would imagine you could adjust the code for this setup and use the iframe embed option but we don’t have an example code to share. Have you tried reaching out to Memberstack to see if they have a tutorial for iframe embeds too?
Thanks, I will see what I can sort in this regard. Thanks for your response!
Thanks @Ash.NZ, let us know how you get on!
Hi @Grace, thanks for all your prompt replies and support. I am trying to use a bit of VideoAsk magic and I am hoping you may be able to assist here.
I have my VideoAsk currently setup with a button that then triggers a modal that pulls the name and email address dynamically from my Webflow site. However, I am ideally trying to also pull the URL address to ideally have this display in the VideoAsk summary page using some code / ChatGPT to implement the changes to the javascript code I am using. Ideally I am wanting to have it so all the information I have captured on my Memberstack / Webflow site can be passed over (meaning no need to fill out any contact info). Do you this will be possible?
Would it be possible to have this information pulled through perhaps in place of the phone number or product name? I am happy trying to make changes to the code to achieve this, but I am ideally wanting to know if there is a specific name for this field you know of (such as ‘contact_phone’ or something similar). My hope is I can pull the url the videoask is installed on and pass this through to the summary page. If I can achieve this I will be a very happy man!
(Example below showing contact info I have extracted from the website - ideally having the URL on this summary page would be the goal)
Thanks!
Hey @Ash.NZ good to see you here!
I’m not sure if I’m understanding this 100% so apologies if I’m wrong here! Are you wanting to track the source? So if you have the videoask shared in multiple locations you can see which place a person responded in?
You can create custom variables to track or pass through information, but they won’t all show up in that view. We have a Help Center article here that covers the setup and if you have something like a source variable it will show up like this:
and then if you export the results all custom variables will be listed in the csv file.
Let me know if that’s what you’re looking for, or if I’ve totally missed the mark!
Thanks @Grace The source option sounds like what I need. The main thing I need to work out is if I can dynamically generate this so that it can be passed on in a dynamic way relative to different pages that the VideoAsk is placed on. I am hoping so, but if not I still have the option to just add one step as a question to source this information.
I will post my outcome if I can achieve it! :)
Hi @Grace just letting you know I managed to achieve it after a couple of further attempts! This info I can now obtain from the CSV export and as per below. I am just wondering if it would be at all possible for the team to expand the size of that dialog box so I have a quick view option on desktop without it being cut off. On the mobile app it shows without being cut off though. Very very happy to have this function - thank you immensely for helping me to achieve this!
Hey @Ash.NZ this is great news! Interesting that the box expands on mobile, let me see if it’s possible to get it changed on desktop too
Let us know if we can help with anything else, and have a good weekend when you get there!
Hey @Ash.NZ I think the team were able to fix the box so it expands in desktop, are you able to test it out?
Hi @grace Yes this is all resolved now. Thanks!
Awesome, thanks @Ash.NZ have a good rest of the week!
Thanks @Grace
I have actually had the VideoAsk’s I had set up with the button modal as the trigger start to cut off part way through the first video segment. It is still pulling the contact information like I want it to, but the first video segment is now cutoff part way through before being progressed to the next video segment - which wasn’t happening before. Do you have any possible suggestions for being able to correct this?
Hey @Ash.NZ thanks for sharing the screen recording, just wondering if you are experience the same issue in the native videoask or if it just happens in the embedded version?
I am guessing it relates something to do with me pulling contact information through which triggers it to advance to the next stage automatically / prematurely. Might be something on the coding side of things I have used on my Webflow site where this is installed. Strange thing is that it was running through without any trouble just a few days ago - so has me scratching my head a bit. Will see if I can figure out a way to resolve it. Thanks for your response
Hey @Ash.NZ hmm I don’t think pulling the information through should skip the video, have you made any other changes to the page since embedding the videoask? Just wondering if something else is interfering with it.
Hey @Grace, not that I can think of. It happens on two separate pages I have them on, both produce the same outcome. A little puzzling indeed.
Are you able to share the links to both pages @Ash.NZ? I can see if someone on the team can work out what’s going on?
Hi @Grace, thanks!
At the moment it can only be accessible after creating an account (it is free to do so) as it is in a gated area. Here is the link to my website - https://www.harbourcreative.co.nz/. Once you have created a login, if you can try pressing the ‘connect with creator’ button on any applicant page - or you can find it by using the link to my profile here - https://www.harbourcreative.co.nz/applicant/ash-murphy
That would be amazing. I can then of course remove you from my database.
Greatly appreciate all your help!
Thanks @Ash.NZ I will see if I can spot anything. The only other thing I can think of is to try deleting and re-adding the videoask embed to see if that makes a difference…
Thanks for your suggestions, yes I tried removing, publishing and the reinserting the code, but unfortunately it didn’t make a difference. If it is possible for you to create an account and trial the issue and then work out if there is a way to rectify it, I would be most grateful.
All webhooks on make.com and VideoAsk are gone from what I can see and there hasn’t been anything I have adjusted to the code over the last week, but may a bug of some kind. If it is possible to get the perspective of one of your developers I would be most appreciative!
Sure thing @Ash.NZ let me see what I can find out!
Thank you so much Grace. Interestingly I have tried it on Microsoft Edge on my Desktop and Safari on my mobile and it didn’t do the cutting off of the video. I saw something recently mentioned about Google Chrome (which is the browser I am having the issue with) and the need to do an update the version. I did try updating and then relaunching, but it still seems to present the same error. Perhaps if it can be checked on Google Chrome on your side to see if it triggers the same issue (if that isn’t too much trouble!) Hopefully it is just an issue that effects my computer only. Thanks!
Just tried on Google Chrome on my phone also and it worked! So it may hopefully just be an isolated thing. In which case no need to trouble your developers!
Hey @Ash.NZ I registered and tried it out for myself (nice recall of my name in the overlay text btw!) the video didn’t skip for me, I was able to follow the whole sequence. Hopefully it’s just an issue on your computer!
