'Other' Logic Jump Issue

Hi there,

2 questions:
1.) I seem to be unable to define the path for the ‘other’ option - it goes to the next question by default. Has anyone else experienced this yet?
2.) After question 10, I want to allow the user to finish the survey but all I can do via Logic is move them to the Thank You page (which i plan to remove)…  any workarounds here?
Thanks!

@Jens - welcome to the community from another user

i can only give you an answer on the first part (below). The second part of your post is related, possibly, to the plan that you are using - if you are on the free plan, you might only have the 10 question limit.

You can do logic jumps from the ‘other’ option but you need to be in the Advanced Logic tab to do so.

this link is to a short demo/test file that shows a logic jump in a multiple choice if the user selects other

the image below is the logic that i put into the file to show the jump to function

hope this helps

Awesome, thanks @john.desborough - the advanced logic one solves my first problem!

On my second question, i seem to only be able to bring the user to an ending page

@Jens - are you using a paid plan or the free version .. if you could take a screenshot of your logic rules for the last question/second issue, that would help.

cheers

@Jens - the issue is going to be the number of questions you can have in a survey in a free plan (10).

you have more than that listed in the screen shot above.

@john.desborough - not sure i understand. i’m aware i can’t go live with the free plan but still want to understand what’s possible and what not before choosing and paying for a solution

@Jens - so what is the next step in your survey supposed to be? when the user finishes answering your questions, they Submit their answers and then they are presented with an ending page. If you want them to go to a different ending page, then you need add that ending page and customize it with the possible text, url, redirect etc that you want to have happen..

What else do you want them to do? What is the expected behaviour in your mind?

@john.desborough - in an (my) ideal world, the user would be re-directed to my (Wordpress) page which will be a custom Thank You page (the typeform one isn’t enough for me here).
the only thing Typeform seems to offer in that respect is a button that the user would pro-actively have to click to get there so there is the possibility of the user not seeing my Thank You page at all.

@Jens - if you have a plan that permits the ‘redirect upon completion’ function, then when the user pushes the submit button, they would directly jump to the url that you put in the redirect statement (see the image below for an example)  and would NOT see the thank you page.

you could also route them to the thank  you page and then set the button on the thank you page to take the user to your page.

it does sound like the first option (redirect upon completion) is the one you want to use - though not sure if you can test this on a free plan… It does work tho!

in the example here i am sending the user to another typeform with some hidden fields but this should give you the idea on how to set up your redirect.

That is awesome, @john.desborough , thank you. hopefully last follow up question: Can I also allow the user to complete after question 10/30, so combine the logic jump (IF: user clicks “I’m done”, THEN: re-direct to my own Wordpress Thank you Page) → that option doesn’t appear in my advanced logic field

you need to make sure the user gets to a Submit button (if you re-label it “I’m Done” that works too.. lol) so that their answers are submitted.

If your plan level (paid feature unfortunately) allows for re-direct on completion, then inserting the url to which you want them to go can be done in the settings as in the image above.

What is NOT well described in the Typeform documentation is the subtlety that IF  you use re-direct upon completion, the user is transported across time and space to the target URL immediately upon pressing the submit button - and never gets to see the wonderful ending pages we may have created.

If you want the user to go to the ending page(s) and then have the option to press a button or click a link and go to where you wish they would go, then you cannot have the re-direct feature turned on for the form.

just a my tuppence

The logic jump feature is clearly a huge problem with the Typeform product!! Please get this fixed and simple asap.

@Justin_2021 - i have replied to your other thread as well but your statement here does not provide any insight into why you are having issues. The logic jumps work very well for the vast majority of us users.

If you can be more specific and show screen shots of why you say it is a problem, perhaps we can assist you..
