Inconsistent Hidden Field Tracking in Typeform Surveys Embedded in Klaviyo Emails

I’m experiencing issues with tracking responses from Typeform surveys embedded in Klaviyo email newsletters. Specifically:

My Setup:

  • Typeform surveys embedded in Klaviyo newsletters
  • Hidden fields configured to capture respondent data:
    • Full name using Klaviyo merge tags: {{ first_name }} {{ last_name }}
    • Email using: {{ email }}

Current Issue: When testing the survey with a group of targeted recipients, the results tracking is inconsistent:

  • Some completed surveys successfully capture the respondent's email
  • Other completed surveys fail to record any respondent information
  • None of the surveys are capturing respondent names, despite the merge tag configuration

Has anyone encountered similar tracking issues with Typeform-Klaviyo integration? How did you resolve the inconsistent hidden field population?

Any guidance on ensuring reliable tracking of survey respondents would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @gmoretta Happy little Friday! Thanks for stopping by the community. Do you mind sharing a screenshot of how you have the form embedded in a Klaviyo email?

It’s possible that some of the data may not get tracked if the respondent removes any of the hidden field data from the URL, so it’s just something to keep in mind! However, that shouldn’t happening so often.

@Liz @gmoretta - just a reminder that some of the privacy bits of the iOS software strip out hidden fields when they arrive on iphones.

if someone is responding from an iphone and has enabled the privacy bits, that might be the cause

Hey @Liz!  Thank you for your response!

You will see a screenshot of how I have embedded the survey form into Klaviyo below.

If you take look at right hand section of the screen, you will see a panel labeled “Advanced,” where you will see hidden fields that you can populate using klaviyo’s merge tags - for this example I used  {{ first_name }} {{ last_name }} to capture each respondents full name and {{ email }} to capture each respondents email address.

My goal is to capture respondents full names and email addresses.  While Typeform allows me to add a block to ask for full names and emails it does not allow me to embed that question into my Klaviyo newsletter email prompting an error message that states the name and email block is unsupported in email embedding.  This is why I elected to uses hidden fields to embed in my newsletter.  Is there any other way to capture survey respondents full names and email addresses?

Thank you Liz for guidance. Much appreciated.

Thanks, @gmoretta ! Do you mind sharing an email of how it’s embedded within the Klaviyo platform? That will help me look into this further for you!
