Help Needed: Integrating VideoAsk with User Identification via API

Jorge Rayo-seco

Hi Community,

I'm embedding a VideoAsk questionnaire into my website using an iframe. Users log in to our site beforehand, and I need to track responses per specific user instead of anonymously.

Could someone guide me on:

  • How to pass our user ID to VideoAsk through an iframe?

  • How to get detailed user interaction data from VideoAsk via their API?

Any guidance or links to documentation would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Hey @Jorge Rayo-seco welcome to the community 😊

You should be able to add a custom variable to the end of your videoask URL to pass the user ID through the embed.

We have a Help Center article here which talks you through how variables work, and how to set it up.

In terms of the detailed user interaction data, what exactly are you looking for? We have an API guide here that might be useful, but let me know if you need more info!

Hi @Grace ,

Thank you so much for the warm welcome and the helpful links! I haven’t tested the hidden field setup yet, but I’ll give it a try right away 😊

I’m mainly looking to understand how far each user (identified via user_id) gets through the flow — for example, where they drop off if they don’t complete it.

I’ll check the API docs you shared, and if I have more questions I’ll get back to you. Thanks again for your support!

Best,
Jorge
