Help with using a relative URL to generate SMS

Hi, I’ve created a link that will open an SMS message on someone’s phone and auto-populate with some simple text so that people who take our survey can invite their friends and family to do so. (This was inspired by referral programs that some companies have.)

The link is written in the format: sms:?&body=Message%20Here

I’ve confirmed that it works when I copy and paste it into my browser. However, when I add that as the “Button link” to the last page of my form, the response reads: “This URL doesn’t look right.”

Of course, I recognize that it’s not in the usual absolute URL format (https://www…) but I’m frustrated that Typeform won’t take it since it’s such a cool use case.

Suggestions, or workarounds?

Hi @leannmel Oh wow! This is interesting. Most likely, this is happening because of the missing “www.” However, could you use something like Bit.ly to create a URL that will work for this? Or would that prevent the information from passing through to the other URL?

This is such a cool idea @leannmel! Did Liz’s suggestion of a bit.ly work for you?
