Question

Combining a simple Score Quiz and a simple Outcome Quiz

I made a quiz using Universal Mode, added outcomes and then scoring, not knowing that Scoring and Outcomes don’t talk to each other easily.

The questions in the quiz use the 0-5 opinion scale. I assigned each question to the correct ending page. I added score points 0-5 for each question to correlate with the 0-5 opinion scale. I wanted to then assign the highest score for each of those ending pages and lead the test taker to the ending screen that had the most tallied points.

I’m new to everything and spent a lot of time creating the quiz, writing copy, adding 14 ending screens, etc. If there is anyway to salvage my work, I’d love a simple work around. I saw the branching thing and it is far beyond me. So, I’ll need someone big helper energy who can explain it in the simplest terms. If the answer is I have to start over, let me know. If there is a way forward, I’d appreciate the details.

Thank you for your help.

Hello, @StuffStudio !

I’m Pol, Product Manager at Typeform.

Thanks for reaching out and explaining your situation.

You’re correct: Scoring and Outcome quiz modes can’t be used together, as both direct respondents to specific endings based on their answers. You’ll need to choose one or the other. (The product should have flagged this to you earlier. That’s on us, and we’ll be fixing it soon.)

From what you describe, I’d recommend picking the mode that best fits your needs:

  • Scoring quiz: More flexible but also a bit more time-consuming to set up. You can assign different points to each choice and define score ranges for each ending.

  • Outcome quiz: Simpler. Each choice linked to an ending adds 1 point to that ending, and our routing engine shows the ending with the highest score.

If you’d like, share your form link and I can take a closer look at your setup to help you get the best result.

Thanks!
