How to set minimum character in long text form?

Hi @Liz - We also really need the minimum character setting feature. It helps us weed out spam answers on our citizen engagement survey. We always get a few “asdpsf” responses and it would be lovely to not have to sort through those to get to the serious answers. Thanks!

And this is such a simple, yet useful request! I can’t believe Typeform still doesn’t have this.  

Especially because they already have a maximum option. I just don’t want my customers to write “kjvrbijebf” and be done. I want real, genuine feedback

Hi @thadcastle Thanks for stopping by! I know, it’s been a really long wait. Our product team has been working on the Typeform Growth features, which were highly request for an even longer time and much more complicated to build. However, if they do add this feature, I’ll post the news here!

Any movement on this yet? It seems quite a simple duplication of the code for limiting characters. Is there somer reason you don’t want to add it?

In a question where we ask for more feedback, I keep getting 4 word responses, instead of genuine, thoughtful feedback… this is very frustrating… can this please be done?

Hi ​@asfff I can definitely add your vote to this! I’m afraid we haven’t added this feature yet as our product team is working on other features that have higher requests to them. However, as always, if we do add this, we’ll post in the community here!

Also in need of this feature. Would help us reduce the huge amount of spam submissions. Additional settings to reduce spam would also be appreciated. But seems you’re a bit short on developers seeing as this thread is over 3y old.

Hi ​@felixentu Thanks for stopping by! Do you mind sharing a bit more about how the minimum amount of characters would help reduce spam submissions? I’ll then share this use case and feedback to to the product team. 

I have one question asking how many guests they are and if they have any other questions and have noticed that all spam respondents write “2” and then proceed to send in the form. Forcing them to write something more intelligent will either make it harder for bots to complete the form or make it even easier to detect bot-type answers.

I too am in need of this to avoid spam responses that burn through usage and subsequent zaps. Would really hope this gets done soon.

To be more specific, I want character minimum to then build logic if minimal and ideally have an ai form a question based off the response “could you elaborate on (short-answer-subject)

we are also interested in this feature! when we have users respond with NA or random characters when trying to source thoughtful feedback it’s very frustrating

What a shame its a basic of form a min charactere is so import im thinking of quite with Typeform the feature has been asking for 4 years now you are still sleeping 

its been 5 years and still not added. what is this. Typeform is a wide range used business not a small buisness. we use it for our ads. people which give longer responses get tracked better then smaller responses. please implement this

At the moment this feature isn’t being prioritized for production, but we are continuing to raise it as a feature request with the team, and will let you know if anything changes. 🙏

Please add me to the list of people who need this feature. I think every other form product offers this, for a reason - it is an important feature to have.
