Multi Question Page - Branching based on response of a previous question

On a multi question page, based on the response of a question (Yes/No), I need to ask subsequent questions.

Ideally would want the subsequent question to display only based on the response - if not, then at least the subsequent relevant question should be mandatory. For e.g.:

  • Q1) Have you completed the declaration? → Yes/No
  • If response is Yes - Q1.a: When was it completed? _______
  • If response is No - Q1.b: Reason for not completing?________

Q1.a or Q1.b is mandatory. Is something like this possible?

Hey @BobM,

Good question! Are you wanting the subsequent question to appear in the Multi-Question Page? For example:

Q1) Have you completed the declaration? Yes/No

If someone selects Yes, then you want to show Q1.a When was it completed on the same page as Q1) Have you completed the declaration?

If you’re wanting to show the subsequent question on the same page, I’m afraid this isn’t possible.

You can however show subsequent questions based on how someone answers your question but the subsequent question would be on a separate page. You’ll need to use Branching logic to show different questions based on how someone answers your first question. More information on how to use logic can be found here.

Hi Phoebe - thanks for your response. Your understanding is correct! I was aware that it can be done on a separate page using branching logic but was hoping to keep everything on same page. Funny thing is - branching allows you to have an exit rule based on any of the Qs in the same page - BUT the landing page always is the 1st Question on a Multi-Question page.

Hi @BobM,

Ah, yes I see what you mean. It’s not ideal behavior for the default landing page in logic to be the 1st question on a Multi-Question Page since you can’t use logic to skip to a certain question in a Multi-Question Page. We’ll share this feedback to our team and let you know if there are any changes or updates.
