Question

Switch on/off the automatic jump to next question

Hello, I’m new to this forum and to Typeform.

I noticed that when filling in my form on a mobile phone, sometimes swiping up/down can result in the Typeform proceeding or going back to the next/previous question, automatically. Also, when you click an answer, it automatically jumps to the next question, so that makes the “OK”-button redundant.

Is there a way in which you can manually choose between the automatic proceeding and the proceeding upon clicking the OK-button?

Thanks,

Mieke

Hi @IPFeducation We don’t have this feature available, but I can share this request with the product team! Additionally, it might be helpful to use a solution like the one below to prevent respondents from moving forward:

Hi Liz,

Thanks for your response. It’s interesting to see the Logic Loop solution for avoiding people to move forward in the form. However, the problem, in my case, goes for both moving forward and backward when they swipe up/down - I don’t mind if they move through the type form (back & forth), as long as that is the thing they want to do, but the problem is - at least when I embed the form in my website - that sometimes a user wants to scroll up or down (to read the full question or array of answers within the embedded space), and then accidentally goes back to the previous or following question.

But thanks for the tip, it’s interesting to see and worth considering whenever I may need it!

Hi @IPFeducation Oh got it, makes sense! I’ll share this feedback with the product team. Hopefully the workaround works for those attempting to peek forward in the form!

Hi, just following up — is there any solution available today to make this more user-friendly? At the moment it feels redundant: users can click an answer to auto-progress, but they also see an “OK” button. Ideally, we should either require users to confirm their selection by clicking “OK,” or enable auto-progress without the extra button. Right now, the “OK” button feels unnecessary and in some cases can obstruct the user’s screen

Has progress been made on this. Users can effectively game a quiz by selecting every answer until they move on automatically. If “submit or OK” shows, then they know they have the wrong answer. This makes Typeform unusable for quizzes and will mean we have to move away from it as a piece of technology.

Hi @limber I’m not sure that this is correct, the OK button appearing isn’t dependent on whether the person has selected the correct answer, it just appears if someone selects something and it’s time to move to the next question.

If that’s not happening for you, would you mind sharing what you’re seeing with the support team via this link so they can investigate? Like you said, we wouldn’t want people to be able to game a quiz so it’d be good to check it out!
