Inquiry About Payment Authorization & Gateways for Healthcare Business

I run a mental health business providing online therapy and want to build a form using Typeform to collect lead information, schedule appointments, and authorize payments.

Here’s how I envision the flow:

  1. Collect personal details from the lead.
  2. Allow them to pick a date and time for their appointment.
  3. Let them select a therapy package.
  4. Authorize their credit card for payment, so I can charge them once the appointment is confirmed.

I see that Typeform integrates with Square. Can I use Square to authorize payments instead of charging immediately? Or is Stripe the only available option for payment processing? Also, are there any other payment gateways Typeform supports? Lastly, does Typeform have any policies restricting healthcare businesses from collecting payments?

Hi @mahmad55 What a cool company you run! I’m sure it helps lots of people. 😀

At the moment, we can do all of these except authorize payment. Our Stripe integration would require the respondent to make a payment. However, you could always use our redirect feature to send the respondent to a page on your website to authorize that payment.

As for healthcare, if you are a hipaa organization, we do require a BAA to be signed. However, if you’re not totally sure, you can also talk to someone on our support team who has a bit more knowledge on the healthcare procedures!
