Pass information from one form to another

Hi Community

This used to be simple, but now I cant figure it out. The article: "Pass information from one form to another" seems to have missing information - or I cant follow it.

I am capturing the first name on survey 1. At the end of survey 1, I have redirected the survey to survey 2, where I want to continue using their first name.

I know that putting an @ refers back the the answer of a question you asked. 

Please can someone list out the steps and treat me like a 2-year old. Any assistance is appreciated.
