Output links not working

Hi there,

I have created an outcome quiz with more than 100 outcomes and each of those outcomes have a personalized link where people can buy the item they have matched with in the quiz in a retailer website.

When I try each of the links individually the link provider’s website they all work. However, when I do the quiz and match with a product and then click on the link to the retailer, only some of those links work, the others don’t. The reason they fail is because when I click and a new window opens the link in the browser is missing “:” after http. However, I go back to the typeform workspace and I see how the link is correct.

I am not sure whether this is a problem with typeform, the link provider or a wider coding issue (I am not a technical expert)

Does anyone have any idea of why this happens / how to solve it? Also I find it very weird that only some fail when all of them work individually

Thanks

@literaryowl - two things it could be, from what i can see: 1) the ‘short link’ that is used by amazon: you should really find the fully qualified link from the target page and not use a short link - that gets converted outside of typeform and could be the problem and/or 2) i see that the Publish form is active - meaning the form needs to be published in order for any changes to take place - that may be just what happened when you did this little test/screen shot BUT sometimes, when you replace one link with another you need to be sure to publish the form again.

if neither situation helps, then suggest reaching out to Typeform Support at this link

@literaryowl - could you provide some screen shots or a loom video of the situation, so that we could visualize the issue a little better? it will help us organize our thoughts on potential solutions

Thank you Des, please see attached 4 screenshots where I try to reflect the sequence

  1. I click on BUY in my outcome
  2. Get an error saying there is a typo in the link
  3. Fix the link by adding “:” between “http” and “//”.
  4. Takes me to the correct website

When I use the same link I get from Amazon directly (i.e. not through the outcome quiz page) it works perfectly. Also, sometimes the links work when I get to the outcome quiz page but some others they don’t…

It looks it might be an issue with the Amazon links but if you know anything about it I would be very grateful.

Thank you

@literaryowl - thanks for those, it helps to explain a bunch to the other voices in my head..

last question - can you show a screenshot of the ‘buy’ page with the link structure showing in the right hand pane??  (ie what is being assigned to the button as the link)? i have an inkling what might be problem but that last bit would hopefully clarify
