Hi,

For some reason the email embed tool adds “gt;” letters on top of the survey. How can I get rid of it?

Hi @MarekHozak Thank you for the gif! The typeform codes needs to be the only code on the page, which is why you’re seeing the issue in the email. Can I have you try removing the other elements in the email to see if this helps?

Hi @Liz , thank you for coming back to me. Do you mean I should delete all other elements in the email? I still need the logo, intro text as well as greetings and footer to be in the email. The Typeform code is in fact the only HTML element I use in the email.

Would you mind clarifying what you meant by “the only code on the page”?

Hi @MarekHozak That’s correct! For testing purposes, removing everything else in the email will help us see if it’s something in the Typeform code or in the rest of the items in the email. Since we don’t have too many reports of this, it’s most likely something else in the email causing the issue, but I’ll know that for sure when the only code on the email is the Typeform code.

Hi @Liz , thank you for your answer. I tried that (see below), but without success. Note that the footer is mandatory (something that cannot be changed).

Thanks, @MarekHozak ! I checked with our technical support team on this one, but looking at the email and the code, we aren’t able to find anything that would be causing the extra ‘gt’ in the code. If you haven’y already, I would suggest reaching out to ActiveCampaign to see if there’s anything in their email builder that might be causing this.

@MarekHozak @mikaelhugg we had a similar issue using ActiveCampaign and received the following response from the technical support team (who were incredibly helpful) which solved our problem:

“After doing some testing, we found that the "gt;" was being caused by the portion of the code that was located in the head. You can remove the portion of the code that starts with <!DOCTYPE html> and goes all the way to </style></head>. Once that is removed, the "Gt;" should disappear.

The "gt;" appears within the HTML because of a Security update around the HTML block sanitization around these tags: (ie, <html>, <body>, <head>). Removing these tags and their corresponding closing tags (ie, </body>, etc …) will fix this issue if you ever see it again. In this case, it looks like only the head needed to be removed.

After making the change, I recommend sending yourself a test to ensure that the HTML block still works correctly before officially sending to your contacts.”
