Question

Way to get part of a form filled out by a seperate person

Just wondering if it would be possible for someone to fill out half of a form, then send it on to another person that can finish filling the information out?

Hi @gkas welcome to the community 😊 this is an interesting one! It’s not possible to save a spot in a form unless you’re accessing it from the same device, so I don’t think it would work to pass it on to someone else. Can you share a bit about your use case and maybe we could give some suggestions of a workaround?

Hi Grace, thanks for your response!

We already use Typeform as part of our onboarding process, but we have someone fill it out with the initial onboarding info, then the person we are onboarding will fill out another form with some double up questions and some new ones.

What I'm wondering is… would it be possible to get a form that pulls previous answers or information from somewhere and doesn’t ask questions that have already been answered? Then once both forms have been completed, the information for both gets combined at output.

There are round-about ways to do it outside of Typeform, but I'm just wondering if its possible to it on the one platform and it might be a bit less high touch.

Hey @gkas hope you had a good weekend!

I was wondering if it would be possible to use URL parameters to pass the information from the first form to the second, but I think it depends what information you’re passing - for example if it’s a multiple choice answer or open text I don’t think it would work at the moment.

Let me take this to the team and see if anyone’s got any ideas for setup that wouldn’t be too complicated!

Hi there, we would like this the exact scenerio as well.

Our approach would be to have a partial submit point they shares a typeform id that can be shared with a second user who can then input this and submit information into the second half of the project.

If passing data through to sharepoint we could then setup automations that inserts the data our databases where the typeform id is the same.

Hey @Andrew Stafford this sounds interesting, I’m not seeing any workarounds for this atm but I’m passing on all the feedback to our Product team as a feature request. I think this is a really interesting use case so will let you know if I hear any updates!

@Andrew Stafford @Grace  - rather than use a partial submit, i suggest you use separate typeforms and redirect upon completion to move the folks from one form to the next … or use an email notification to the person on the next step of the workflow process.

a combination of both has been used for several clients with the first form hitting a sharepoint and triggering ‘external to typeform’ workflows with a redirect to another form for the originator to complete some details. this second form triggers a message on submission to the person who needs to take the next step - which involves getting some details from the sharepoint process running in parallel and putting that into the 3rd typeform in the series. .. this continues for another 3 or 4 steps in the onboarding process.

that might work for you
