Multi-Language Translation Upload

Hi Typeform, we have many languages we need to have surveys in, for example Thai, Vietnamese, Khmer… That you do not have. Can you create an option for the Multi-Language forms to allow us to upload our own translations for the AI translations you are missing?

Hi @Jaime Mateo Yes, you can upload a translation that’s not on the list! This article here will walk you through how to upload your own translations, regardless of the language.

@Liz we’re having the same issue and unclear from this article how to add non-supported languages. For example if we want to add Thai language. The article states we can upload our own translations but the first step is to click “Add Language” and Thai is not in the list. How would you recommend we proceed?

Hi @Viki Viki,

With the multi-language form feature you can upload your own translations, however when you select a language to add, the respondent’s browser language would need to be set to one of the languages you’ve added to your form for the feature to work properly. Since Thai isn’t on the list of supported languages, I’m afraid the feature won’t work with Thai.

As a workaround, you can create multiple forms, one for each language. Then have one form asking respondents which language they would prefer, then you can use logic to direct respondents to the form in their selected language. Keep in mind though that responses will be collected separately per form.

Here is an article that has a few workaround options on how to create forms in multiple languages.

Hope this helps!

Multi form is what we wanted to avoid, as it increases maintenance cost. Can we kindly request and improvement to this feature? Limiting to a fixed set of languages seem a bit arbitrary. If you could provide a free-form language code when we upload our own translations, this would unlock any language

Hi @Viki Viki thanks so much for the feedback, great shout on being able to upload your own translations. I have added this to our feature request board and we’ll let this thread know of any changes.
