Email validation works incorrectly

I have encountered a situation where the user mistakenly entered the incorrect email address: xxxxx@xxxx.com2.

I believe that this error should have been caught by the email field format validation in Typeform. However, in this instance, the validation did not function as intended, leading to a failure in my subsequent automation processes.

I was unable to locate a place to report this issue, and I am hopeful that the community can assist in bringing this matter to the attention of the developers.

Hi @genoks You’ve come to the right place! Feel free to share any feedback, questions, etc here.

Let me share this with the devs! I’m not sure if this is expected behavior of our email validation, which would be a bit odd if so, or if this is an known issue.

Hi @genoks Thanks for waiting on this! I asked our developers about this, and they let me know that email verification, while helpful, doesn’t work 100% of the time. However, they are aware about scenarios like this and are hoping to prevent those in the future.

Hi @genoks hope you’re doing well. Just wanted to stop by with an update to say our Product team have launched a new Answer validation feature, which I’m hoping will help solve any email discrepancy issues from respondents.

The feature currently works on Long text, Short text and Email questions, with URL validation coming soon.

Here’s the Help Center article with all the details on how to start using this feature. Hopefully this helps! 🙏
