Hey guys,

My quiz has a huge drop-off rate at 77% and only a completion rate of 16%. Considering I am buying traffic via paid ads, it’s a huge problem. How can I improve? Do you see something that I should change when you see the link?

I would love and appreciate every single comment!

First question - are you embedding this on your website at all? Or sending traffic directly to the form? If it’s on your website, do you mind sending the URL? Thanks in advance!

Hello dear Liz,

I am currently directing my traffic directly to my typeform quiz. My Instagram bought traffic is coming directly to that page :)

happy to get your comments! :)

@DaninBoz - can you post a screenshot of an ad or provide link?/ want to crosscheck something between ad and form..

Sure there you go!

Thanks, @DaninBoz ! This is interesting - I don’t see too many forms filled out via Instagram!

Some suggestions offhand:

  1. If possible, I would give a preview on the welcome page of the kind of information they’re going to receive and why you’re asking the specific questions.
  2. Switching up the look of the questions can definitely help! If you’re able to use picture choices, that would spice it up a bit.

Do you also mind sharing a screenshot of the dropoff report? I have a few other ideas, but I’d like to see the dropoff report first!

Here is the drop off report!
Sorry I thought i already replied.

@DaninBoz - pardon me for saying it this way, but what happens when someone does discover that key piece of wardrobe that is missing? So what?

So what - or maybe ‘now what?’ is the nudge you need to get more people to go beyond the welcome screen …

  • if you are selling the products and can offer a discount, then adding something like this to the welcome page:
    • “… and get 10% off your first purchase”

now you have covered the essential questions:

  • what? - is my closet missing something?
  • so what? - yup, there’s a XXX that i am missing, i did not know that.
  • now what? - yeah i want that and i can get 10% off right now, i’ll order that..

just my thoughts..

Thanks for the kind advice. I have actually changed the landing page. @john.desborough

of the quiz. If you have similar challenging thoughts, feel free to share. I am grateful for your POV.

Hi @DaninBoz !

I run our growth marketing team here at Typeform (including our paid team). I think there is some great advice in the thread already. I can add some notes that are more related to lead gen for paid specifically based on my experience.

  1. A big drop off rate from the “landing page” to the first question isn’t super surprising to me. Generally I see pretty high drop off with cold paid traffic. Often folks don’t really know what it is they are clicking on. For context, a on page conversion rate (filled in the whole form) of 1-2% is common, although not the best but it totally varies by industry and audience.
  2. I’d be interested in how you are optimizing your paid campaign (ie conversions, traffic etc). Often what you are optimizing for can result in the wrong kind of traffic (ie you may just be getting people who click vs people who will fill it all out).
  3. Looking at the creative for the ad, I could totally see someone thinking they would see actual products when they click on it. You should expect folks to only look at the image and any text in it. It is not totally clear to me that I’ll fill out a quiz based on your image.

Hope that helps! This kind of lead generation is often quite tricky and can take awhile to get the right offer to the right audience!

Thank you so much, @meg.gowell ! Let us know if you implement these suggestions, @DaninBoz , and how they work for you!
