Hi

Currenlty thinking of using tyepform to collect additional user information in our webapp. Is there a way to match typeform answers to users in an app without asking for email in the tyepform.

Thanks

Hi @deepak. Welcome to the Typeform Community :hugging:

There is! 🚀 If you already have your respondent’s information in your database, you can pass the email via Hidden Fields in the URL of the typeform. Hope this helps =)

Thanks @Mariana

This was very helpful…

So for any users that we have stored on our database, we can use Hidden Fields to pass Email from the webapp to the Typeform embedded code. Im assuming we can use any unique ID to match the user to a Typeform in that case?

@Mariana So if I understand correctly, by using Hidden Fields you can save the email address from where a respondent has opened your Typeform? And this email address is then saved to the responses and also sent to my Google Sheets?

Thanks!

@Renee - from another user of the tool

if you pass the email into a typeform as a hidden field, you can use it in the typeform and it will be recorded in the submitted data BUT you need to create the variable to receive and store the email address (or any other hidden field that is being passed into the form) in the Hidden Variables area of the Advanced Logic tab

that way you will have the email address in your survey data and in your google sheet
