๐Ÿ‘‹ Question for the Typeform community:

ย

If you use AI translation and then make some manual edits, what happens if you run the AI translation again after adding a new page?

ย

๐Ÿ‘‰ Does it overwrite your previous edits or only translate the new content?

ย

How do you handle this on your side to avoid losing your changes? ๐Ÿ‘€

Hi โ€‹@Questionaire oberAย another good question!

If you re-run translate with AI for a language it will regenerate the whole translation file, so you may lose manual edits that youโ€™ve made. Weโ€™d recommend downloading the template for that language, adding translations for the new page in the translation column and then uploading the template again. This will replace the existing file but with your edits and new string of translations.

Hereโ€™s the Help Center article on multi-language forms which includes info on using and editing AI translations. Hope that helps!ย

Thanks for your answers ๐Ÿ™

I still have a few more questions:

ย

๐Ÿ‘‰ If I only change images (without touching the text), do the updates automatically apply across all languages, or do they need to be updated manually for each translation?

ย

๐Ÿ‘‰ And if itโ€™s manual, where exactly do you go to update the images in each language?

ย

Thanks in advance for your help ๐Ÿ™Œ

Hi โ€‹@Questionaire oberAย changing images shouldnโ€™t effect the translations. Which images are you referring to? Is it ones in picture choice questions?ย

Forum|alt.badge.img+1

No, I mean the images that we put on the pages, not the image selection options. So will it update automatically in the translations? Can you confirm?โ€

โ€‹@Questionaire oberAย I donโ€™t think the translation feature is able to pick up text thatโ€™s already embedded into an image, it will only read written text at this point. Youโ€™d need to consider an alternative set up for image based text. I will share this with our product team as a feature request!

No, thatโ€™s not what Iโ€™m asking. Is it normal that images are not translated.ย Iโ€™m asking: if I change an image, will it be automatically replaced in the other forms that are already translated?

Hi โ€‹@Questionaire oberA,

ย

Great question! When you add an image to your form, it doesnโ€™t get translated. When you create a multi-language form, itโ€™s a single form and only the text of the questions, answer options, buttons, error messages etc. get translated depending on the respondentโ€™s language setting in their browser.

If you have images, itโ€™ll be the same image in the form no matter which language the respondent sees. If you change an image, itโ€™ll be the same image every respondent will see no matter which language is displayed. For example, if you upload an image of a dog, every respondent will see the dog no matter which language of the form they see. If you then change the image to a cat, every respondent will see a cat no matter which language of the form they see.

ย

Hope this makes sense. Let us know if you have any other questions.
