I have an event coming up that has a restriction on numbers. Is there anyway to set a limit on the responses so that the automated email changes to a pre-prepared waitlist response once that limit has been met?

Hey 
It's not possible to change the email notification automatically once you reach the limit, but you can set a response limit and schedule to close your typeform once you reach that:
This way, they won't be able to submit the form (in this case, I'd recommend you leave a customized message explaining why). You can learn more about this option here. ;)
