Can you remove the 'required' * from a question (while it is still 'required')

If the question is marked as required, it isn’t possible to remove the *. You could add a note at the beginning of the form which states that any question marked with the * is required. 

Thanks Liz, I have used the note as suggested.

However this isn't the first time I have had this question. I wonder if in the future there could be an option to ‘suppress’ the *, in published typeforms… as removing it would not have huge significance to users as they do not know its purpose….

Sorry guys but this is super frustrating. What if every question is mandatory, everything shows an asterisk? The fact that this isn’t configurable makes zero sense.

I think it’s crazy that you can;t choose to remove the asterix (*) for required fields. Why is this not on your roadmap?

Hi @JamesJHHill Our developers are working on other features with higher requests, but keep an eye out on the community in case this feature gets built!

We’ll be moving off of typeform specifically because of this annoyance, sort of a bummer to see that this feature hasn’t moved in two years. Couldn’t possibly take more than a week to implement. 

I think the issue is less that it can’t be done (it’s a simple enough tweak), it seems the issue is that they don’t want to make the change. 

I’m facing the same issue. Every question is mandatory, all headlines shows an asterisk, looks like my every question has a double meaning - just super confusing. Please make this configurable.

I want to remove the asterisk too, but still make the question required. Since an asterisk is often paired with a footnote disclaimer explaining there’s a catch.

Example: Yours Free*

Aren’t you expecting to then see a footnote saying *$5.99 shipping and handling

If there must be an asterisk, there should be an accompanying legend to explain it means *this is a required question. OR even better would be to have no asterisk and a required question left incomplete gets a popup message.

At the very least, choose a different symbol to indicate required!

I want the option to be able to hide the asterisk for required fields.

I agree with others in this thread — the asterisk raises more questions than it clarifies.
Not one of my test participants wasn’t confused by it — the reaction was immediate (“Why is there an asterisk after the question mark?”). This will likely affect everyone once the survey goes live.
