Can I only score a multiple choice question?

Best answer by john.desborough

@timmiller - you can use logic rules to assign scores/points for almost any type of question. currently matrix and ranking questions don’t allow for logic rules to be used.

what type of ‘scoring’ are you trying to do?

a logic rule can be created for a number question, for example that says:

  • if (q2 answer) is greater than 10 add 2 to @score

I use ‘scoring’ in over 100 different quizzes with different types of questions providing the input into the logic rules.

Hello @Liz  @john.desborough  can ranking questions be scored now? For a simple logic set up of

Always add QUESTION (opinion scale/ratting/etc) to Variable (question group#1)

Hi @Amara Yes, you can use scoring on ranking questions! You would still need to specify what amount you’d like to enter into the score. For example:

@Liz  @john.desborough  So to be clear - I will need to define values for every item on the rating scale? I cannot just add the value under the rating to the question group variable and multiply it by an amount to define the score of that question? See screenshot:

Custom variable set up (360 reviews - scoring for each question group)
Logic set up to avoid assigning each of the 5 ratings per question a specific value within this space

I first started doing the quiz/score route and assigning values this way, but realized I would have to do +/- 12 subtraction commands in the branching space for  each question within its specific question group so that the score stays specific to the questiongroup when pulling recall. Unless I’ve overcomplicated things - I read through many articles, especially the one on multiple scoring for a quiz, but I am trying to avoid adding values to every single rating in every single question… in every single question group. I want to utilize the numbers alreayd assigned to the ratings and opinion scale; they start at 1 and end at 5., and multiply by two to get a set score per question.
