Hidden fields based on typeform documentation

Hello All,

I have been sorta struggling with understanding hidden fields based on the info found here.

https://help.typeform.com/hc/en-us/articles/360056599471-Pass-information-from-one-typeform-to-another

Based on the example form found at the above url the hidden field value is being set by value from a form question?

I have multiple forms setup to gather information for a report and I want to carry some initial values thru all the forms for logic jumps and such.

here is the entry form

https://atp-bio.typeform.com/to/f5sLCkth

I am wanting to take the answers of the first two question #1 and #2 and role the values thru all my forms.

yeah.. the documentation is lacking a couple of bits but across the various videos, help articles and other posts herein, i think the simple summary comes down to this:

If you need to use hidden fields to pass information INTO or BETWEEN typeforms you need to do the following:

  • in your receiving typeform - from the advanced logic tab, create the hidden variables with the name that you are using in the name/value pair on the url/string being passed into the form (ie email, firstname, lastname, customer_id, employe_id, etc...)
  • publish the typeform and go to Share and copy the link - this is a ‘cheat’ for the next step
  • if you are going to send someone to a typeform from an email/crm/external page where you HAVE the information, use the following (simply example with 3 fields added):
  • If you are passing fields from one typeform to another, then it is very similar to the above - BUT replace the xxxxx’s with the appropriate questions or variables from the list available

    • copy the url for the  target typeform into the redirect on completion box and then add the label names and select the values that you want to insert into the expression (click the little + icon in the top right corner of the redirect on completion window and select from the available list - you will see hidden variables, created variables in this form and the questions/answers in the list)

one thing that i have found to be helpful is to Connect each typeform in the series to the same Google Sheet - it puts then on different tabs of the same sheet - and then i can create a consolidation tab that i use to relate the data across the tabs and pull it into one master sheet/report as required.

those are just the bits that have worked for me..

ok I figured it out after messing around…. so rather than trying to set the hidden field value directly you have to place a recall of the question for the parameter value within the url.  In my case on the redirect:)

I am not sure the documentation states that or shows that? here is to figuring it out on ones own.
