Love to see this @Darnell! 😍 And 100% agree when you make a big move you’ve really gotta give yourself time to settle in, find your feet and work on some new routines!

Excited to hear more about life in Quebec once you’re all set up!

@Grace @James - finished the wee trek to Santiago last Friday … scruffy as heck and with achy feet but a smile on my face..

Amazing, well done @john.desborough was it good to disconnect from everything? And would you do something like that again?

@Grace you’re so right! I haven’t moved to a different state or country since ‘93, which is over 30 years ago! So, I really need some time to find my footing.

I think morning workouts are still non-negotiable though, lol. I’m also trying to top out at 4 hrs/day max in front of a computer in my 40’s as opposed to the 8+ hrs/day it’s been for the last 17 years.

@john.desborough I’m currently in Longueuil; how far out are you??

@Darnell - i am in Ottawa about 2 hours out.. my son lives near the McGill campus and my eldest daughter lives on the Quebec/Vermont border, where the library straddles the border and according to Donnie T, is a hotbed of cross-border trafficking - the library that is… lol

so i travel through Longueil when i head to visit here.. we should grab adult beverages in Old Montreal/Atwater Market some day..

i might do another leg or two at some point, @Grace  but at the moment my feet have no desire to see another ‘yellow arrow’ trail marker for a while lol..

interesting fact, if you are not aware, that these marker cairns show the distance along the trail that remains to the Cathedral in Santiago. these markers are NOT at every change in direction… you sort of have to keep your eyes out for them on poles, fences curbs, etc..

@Grace - i think the leg from Sagrada Familia to @James garden counts as a leg of the Camino - just sayin’….

😂 That sounds do-able @john.desborough especially if we know James is at the tiki bar waiting to hand out the cocktails!

Aw man, seeing this pics made me so happy and proud for you @john.desborough 😍 Good on ya for making it, especially with some of those wonky signposting (be honest, did you get GPS/Google Maps out at any point?)

And yeah, I can start painting some arrows. It’s an 8-hour walk here from the Sagrada Familia according to Google and it’s right along the coast. I’ve got a forest of mint growing in the garden and have started harvesting for mojitos. Just sayin’

That sounds amazing! An 8-hour coastal walk from the Sagrada Familia sounds like a dream, especially if it ends with fresh garden mint mojitos waiting. I’m sure the arrows will help, but having GPS on hand for those “wonky” signposts might still be a lifesaver—though getting a little lost along a route like that doesn’t sound too bad either.

You’re not wrong there @JovanBerge it probably would be a good idea to have GPS on hand just in case! Getting lost is fun until it starts getting dark and you’ve no idea where the mojitos are! 🍹😆

@Grace  - that’s why you should always have a hydration pack filled with wine, and a thermos full of premixed mojitos… so you can simply grab a spot on the side of the path as the sun goes down and enjoy .. lol

not saying that was how i did my camino but i have done a few like that since then lol
