Hey there you wonderful technologists!

I thought it might be fun to create a thread for us to share our tech stacks. Navigating the sea of apps can be tricky – every day my inbox is flooded with missives from SaaS companies explaining why I should subscribe to their product. But nothing beats word-of-mouth recommendations from peers, so let's share what's working for us and together we can break through the noise!

I can go first…

As a content specialist here on the Community Team I use a bunch of different tools to help me plan, create, publish and track content. I also use Typeform a lot to help me with my tasks, integrating it with the tools using either the native integration or via Zapier or Make.

Aside from Gsuite (yawn), here are some of my favourite tools for getting stuff done:

🗂️ Airtable for managing and cataloging content. One of the things I use it for is keeping track of incoming case studies/testimonials. I set up an integration whereby a customer submits their case study/testimonial in a typeform (or a videoask) then this gets pushed into Airtable and cataloged. At the same time an alert is sent to Slack and a draft is created in Google Docs. You can read how the process works here.

📒 Asana for planning projects (webinars, content and things). Again, I have this integrated with various Typeforms, including one where if someone internally submits a request for some kind of content, it automatically creates a task in Asana with various fields pre-filled, helping me to prioritize.

💬 Slack for day-to-day comms with team members. We have various integration flows set up within Typeform as a whole for alerts and requests. My personal favourite was a "lunch buddy-matching" typeform that would ping people on Slack to let them know who was up for grub in town on any particular day.

🎨 Canva for creating graphics/presentations (like the league table I made for our World Cup prediction league). By the way, there's a really neat Canva integration hidden within Typeform, allowing you to create great looking meta images - more deets here.

🎧 Spotify gets me through the tough days. I even integrated it into Typeform, setting up a form where people can submit their fave songs and it turns them into a shared Spotify playlist. I also recommend checking out our Best music to create typeforms thread!

❓ What tools are you using? Are you integrating Typeform into these, and if so, how?

@James - good start.. i want to get more into airtable but just having the time lol

for my end of the world:

  • Gsuite (google sheets, templates in Docs/Slides, and Document Studio)
  •  Trello - for requests for quotes, tshirt orders, etc
  • convertkit, active campaign and keap for integration to landing pages and email sequences
  • canva (i like the meta bit @James )
  • slack - really simple stuff

for a couple of lawyer clients, we integrate Typeform into LawRuler, a legal CRM.

for a couple of retail clients, integration into Shopify flows

for a winery client, into Mailchimp and Commerce7 (winery loyalty and ecom platform)

just a sampling

Thanks for sharing @john.desborough - that’s an impressive line-up indeed 🤓

Out of interest, when working with clients, do you generally need to work around the systems they have in place, or do you recommend tools that better suit each other?

@James I definitely need to step up my music game and use Spotify. Every laughs at me when I tell them I just listen to music on YouTube (with ads) 😆

@john.desborough Shopify is a blast! I used it when I ran my own business a few years back. There’s a lot of fun things you can do with its API too, like automatically generating a unique coupon code after a respondent provides a testimonial in Typeform or VideoAsk.

My favorite tools right now are Make and W3Schools. I use Make to map out and automate different workflows, both for internal use and prototyping use cases for our customers. W3Schools is useful for testing and troubleshooting Typeform and VideoAsk embeds, especially when it comes to more advanced things like passing in variables dynamically from a website.

@James - i can usually get folks into the Documenbt Studio for report output and email results pretty easily but otherwise it’s how to fit it all in to the native typeform as much as possible.. i try to build the typeform ‘naked’ and let the clients do the topping and tailing.. and the integration work with the API

@andrew_videoask - so far i have successfully avoided having to work with the APIs .. call me crazy or lazy but that’s not a world i want to get into (again) - i’m too old to do anything but a little perl or cobol, if i can actually remember them…

@john.desborough Haha! There’s so much you can do with no-code, done-for-you tools like Zapier and Make. It’s not necessary to mess with APIs unless there’s something highly custom you’re trying to achieve.

haha @andrew_videoask (sorry for being another person laughing at you 😝) I do like Youtube too for relieving music vids and concerts, but my absolute favourite place for listening to music is Radio France’s FIP Radio. Such a delight 😍 Thanks for the recommendations btw!

@john.desborough  I’m with you on Document Studio, is such a creative way to do things with typeform results. There are so many wonderful possibilites, and I’m sure you’ve pulled off some very neat tricks with it in your time as a Typeform wizard 🪄

@James - the one thing i wish that the folks at Document Studio (Digital Inspiration) would do, is to work cooperatively to develop the ‘trigger mechanisms’ that would allow for the push of data from the google sheet record just received INTO the Slide data embed/link and update the report: sort of like creating the graph in ppt to show this month’s sales data and then next month you have to ‘update’ the data table to get the graph to regenerate.

if Doc Studio could crack that nut, it would throw Report Gorilla out the window..

just sayin’…

- VSCodium for coding.
- ChatGPT for coding support when working with a new techno.
- MidJourney for ads generation
- AWS for hosting
- Brain.fm to stay focus. I bought a lifetime deal when they started 6-7 years ago, and it is awesome.

Nice @jeremielp ! Thanks for sharing. Just trying Brain.fm on your recommendation, I’m impressed so far – let’s see how productive I can be today 😌

@jeremielp - you mentioned Chatgtp in your stack, so i thought i would follow up on that thread - have you tried to create a typeform that passes the answers into Chatgtp to get a result?? just a simple test of the API that might make it an ‘idea generator’ ..

thoughts?  @andrew_videoask - whaddya think?

Great question @john.desborough . Definitely interested in this too @jeremielp @andrew_videoask 👀 . The other day I had a fiddle around with the Typeform>Chat GPT Zap but couldn’t get ChatGPT to return a result from a typeform/videoask entry. Would love to know if anyone’s succeeded in this!

@john.desborough It definitely sounds doable! Did you have any specific ideas/use cases in mind, or you just wondered if it’s possible?

Userlevel 7

@andrew_videoask - was thinking of a small utility to help solopreneurs who are completely sold on using AI as a tool to help them write copy, to be able to use a typeform along these lines:

  • q1 = what type of business are you running (multiple choice)
  • q2 = what topic do you want to ‘write’ about? (drop down/MC)
  • q3 = do you have a particular type of product or service you want to write about? (short text)

then send the data to the AI tool ie chatgpt and get a short blog post delivered back

@James - i hear your pain on the zap to no result lol.

a while back, @picsoung  did an Office Hours session where he was passing parameters from the typeform to google search (city, restaurant types, etc) .. so i was thinking that something that simple might be possible.. just in case anyone had been looking at it..

just my thought of the day..

Yeah, that sounds like a nice use case to play around with @john.desborough . I like the idea of Typeform being used as an interface for helping people to formulate their Chatgpt searches in order to get the most relevant, accurate results.

Incidentally, here’s how ChatGPT would like to work with Typeform (it doesn’t have a Community user profile yet, but I’m sure it’s coming 😆):

Typeform is a powerful tool that can be used in conjunction with ChatGPT to help people make the most of the information and insights provided by the AI language model. Here are a few suggestions for using Typeform in this way:

  1. Survey users on their interests: Use Typeform to gather information on the topics and areas of interest that users would like to explore with ChatGPT. This information can help tailor the responses and suggestions provided by ChatGPT to better meet the needs and preferences of users.

  2. Collect feedback on ChatGPT's responses: After interacting with ChatGPT, use Typeform to gather feedback from users on the accuracy, relevance, and helpfulness of the responses provided. This feedback can be used to refine and improve the AI model and ensure that it is meeting the needs of users.

  3. Provide personalized recommendations: Use Typeform to collect information on users' specific goals or challenges, and then provide personalized recommendations based on the insights provided by ChatGPT. This can help users to more effectively apply the information and insights provided by ChatGPT to their unique situations.

  4. Conduct research and gather data: Typeform can be used to conduct surveys and gather data on a wide range of topics related to social, economic, and environmental issues. This data can then be analyzed and used to generate insights and recommendations for addressing these issues.

Overall, Typeform can be a powerful tool for enhancing the user experience and improving the effectiveness of ChatGPT. By using Typeform to gather information, provide feedback, and personalize recommendations, we can help users make the most of the information and insights provided by ChatGPT, and ultimately, work towards creating a more just and equitable world.

@john.desborough  @andrew_videoask Just looking at Zapier’s latest digest and they have highlighted a couple of Typeform zaps that could be interesting to try:

I’ll try and have a play around with this later this week but if anyone gets to this first would love to know how you get on and what thoughts you have over the possibilities.

BTW, after a particularly twisted dream I had last night I’m now thinking that by sending information like this through to OpenAI we are ultimately fuelling the machine with the very data it needs to destroy humanity. So if anyone has any fun thoughts on that too, would love to hear them 😆

@James You should ask Chat GPT to interpret your dream 👀

@andrew_videoask - i am not sure that we really want to know the interpretation of the dream.. i am seeing something about a weather man wanting to be a lumberjack sort of version coming to us.. lol

Hahah. @john.desborough that interpretation has all the hallmarks of a hard-hitting Grammy-winning drama series. Maybe you can have ChatGPT write it for us, incorporating plot suggestions from the Community via a typeform 🤖

Wow @Grace - this is incredible! Although to be honest, I’d be happier with a Furby in control of the planet than the current crop of World leaders we have. As long as they don’t decide to appoint an AI Chuckie as their minister of justice 😬
